Itinerary:

POGRADEC – OHRID LAKE – PRESPA LAKE – KORCA – VOSKOPOJA

Day 1: Before entering Pogradec we will stop at LIN village. Lin is a small peninsula on the western shore of Lake Ohrid with a beautiful village of the same name. The houses are made of stone and bricks on the sides of the narrow streets shadowed with grapes. An early Christian Basilica with extraordinary floor mosaic from the forth-fifth century of our era is worth to visit.

Day 2:   The itinerary of the day will pass along the Ohrid Lake from Pogradec to the city of Ohrid. There are so much to see, but the first stop and the most beautiful attraction will be the Monastery of St. Naum. The locality of St. Naum is one miraculous place, at the springs of the river Crni Drim. Built on the rocky hill right above the lake, the monastery of St. Naum is one of the most beautiful ones in Macedonia.

The church itself is dedicated to the Holly archangels Michael and Gabriel and inside the church it holds the baroque - styled icon holder and frescoes with painted folklore dresses from the Ohrid and Prespa region from the end of the XVIII Century. Possibility of having a rowboat trip at the springs with a specialized guide.

Continue to Ohrid, A small lovely city on the eastern shore of Ohrid Lake. Ohrid is notable for having once had 365 churches, one for each day of the year, and is referred to as the Macedonian Jerusalem. The most famous churches are St.Sophia church, St.Bogorodica Perivlepta, St.Jovan Kaneo, St.Pantelejmon – Plaosnik. Other places to visit are: Old Bazaar, Mesokastro Settlement, Kaneo Settlement, Ohrid Fortifications, King Samoil Fortress, Antique Theatre, Ohrid Traditional Architecture, Icon Gallery, Zeynel Pasha Teke. Overnight in Ohrid.

Day 3:   After breakfast will drive up to the mountain of Galicica to reach the National park of Galicica  which offers particularly natural beauties, landscapes and esthetical values, extraordinary rich full endemic flora and fauna. The Park is situated between two biggest Macedonian lakes, Ohrid and Prespa.

Continuing the trip going down to the Prespa Lake which is located at a higher point than any other lake in the Balkans (853 m), covering over 274 sq. km (106 sq. miles).

We will drive along the Prespa Lake shore passing through some small nice villages, and will stop at Liqenas village, in the Albanian territory. The Prespa lake has a panoramic view , full with small bays and high shores. It is rich in fish , among which the delicious small herrings. In front of Liqenas village there is a small island of Maligradi. There during the the fourteenth century the church of St Mary had been constructed within a cave. Some byzantine painting are found there. Optional visit by boat to the Island of Maligrad, which offers a picturesque panorama and an old church interesting to visit.

Time for lunch at Liqenas village with local traditional home made food and departure to Korca.

Day 4:   City tour in Korca will let you know this nice city with its characteristic houses and streets. In the medieval times, Korca was a major trading and carpet-making town. It is still Albania´s biggest carpet and rug-producing centre. You will visit the Museum of National Education, Museum of Medieval Art, Archaeological Museum and Bratko Museum.

After  lunch departure to VOSKPOJA, which although located in a rather isolated place in the mountains of southern Albania, it rose to became the most important center of the Aromanians. In its glory days (1760s) it is said that it had a population surpassing 60,000 and was the second most important city of the Balkans as regards to population and prosperity, surpassed only by Constantinople.

Accommodation in small family hotels where you can have a traditional homemade dinner. 

Day 5: After breakfast Visit to the wonderful Church of Christ's Ascension (kisha e Ristozit) with outstanding internal and external frescoes; and have a walk through the pine-forested mountains to the little rural settlement of Voskopoja.
